• Explanation and how to use for this deck were from 55 page on the magazine, but I have already disposed it.

This deck was also a binding appendix of a romance fortune-telling magazine targeting young women. So, the deck's theme is "young women's love" and its main motif is "young women in love". This deck is based on meanings and keywords of the Rider-Waite edition deck, and is arranged focusing on the theme and the motif. Because its pictures have simple compositions, clean pen touches, beautiful colorings associated with meaning of each card, this deck is very fashionable and has a good feeling.

The "Death" card of such a deck has a picture of a lady wearing a black lobe and kissing to a skull. I will look at it while paying a attention to "the end of things (and the start in a new direction)" that is the meaning of the same-named card of the Rider-Waite edition.

At first, "the end of things" is shown enough with the skull a lady has. Because this deck's theme is "young women's love", it's not hard to imagine the skull's owner was a man during alive.

Then, who is the lady?

Because her clothes is like a black robe, and because her face looks pale, she looks like a death god at a glance, and it seems to be a picture she kisses the skull of the man who was caused death by her. If using this deck to fortune-telling, it may be also able to seen like this as a bad suggestion.

But, the meaning "the start of a new direction" should be also lurking in this card. In this picture, the existence able to show it is only a lady.

Looking while thinking so, I can feel this picture like "the scene that she kisses goodbye to her lover who died once". The lady will have mourned his death for so long that his skull discolored. The lady still hasn't healed her sadness and looks pale, but she has to keep walking her life. She will decide, and be saying the last goodbye to her dead lover.

Goodbye to the important lover is painful for this lady. But, to her, what has been built over a long time spent with him should remain. It may be memories or his heritage or results of his work. Whatever it is, it will surely help her from now on.

The reason I imagined like this is because the color scheme of this picture's background is skillful, I think. Because of used a dark color in the lady's back, I can imagine she is still feeling dark. And, because of used a bright color in the skull's back, I can imagine the possibility that things her dead lover left will help and brighten her in her future.

This is a little creepy picture that a lady is kissing to a skull, but by watching closely like this, I understand that it has meanings based on the tarot "Death" card and has the design based on the this deck's arrange. It's an intresting card.

13番：Death

　このデッキも、若い女性をターゲットにした恋愛占い専門雑誌の綴じ込み付録でした。なので、デッキのテーマは「女性の恋愛」で、主なモチーフは「恋する女性」です。ライダー・ウエイト版の意味とキーワードをベースとし、テーマとモチーフに焦点を当てたアレンジが施されています。シンプルな構図、スッキリとしたペンタッチ、各カードの意味に関連づけつつも美しいカラーリングなど、とてもファッショナブルで好感がモテるデッキです。
　そのデッキにおける「Death」は、黒いローブを纏った女性が髑髏に口付けている絵柄です。ライダー・ウエイト版のカードが持つ「物事の終焉（と新しい方面での始まり）」を意識しながら見ていきます。
　まず「物事の終焉」については、女性が手にしている髑髏で十分に表現されています。デッキのテーマが「女性の恋愛」であることから、この髑髏の持ち主は生前男性だったことは想像に難くありません。
　では、女性は何者なのでしょう？
　纏っているのが黒いローブのようなものであること、顔色が青ざめて見えることから、一見すると彼女が死神のように見え、自ら死をもたらした男の髑髏に口付けている絵なのかと思えます。占いに用いた場合なら、悪い暗示としてこう見るのもあり得そうですね。
　しかし、このカードには「新しい方面での始まり」という意味も潜んでいるはずです。それを示す可能性がある存在は、この絵には女性以外に存在しません。
　そう考えながら見ますと、この絵は「かつて亡くした恋人に別れのキスをする場面」のように感じられます。髑髏が黒く変色するほど長い時間、女性は彼の死を悼んでいたのでしょう。まだ悲しみが癒えず表情も暗いままではあれど、彼女は自分の人生を歩み続けねばなりません。決意し、亡き恋人に最後の別れを告げているのでしょう。
　大切な恋人との別れは、女性にとって辛いものです。しかし、彼女の元には、彼と過ごした時間で築いたものが残っているはず。それは思い出かもしれませんし、彼の遺産や業績かもしれません。何であれ、これからの彼女の支えとなるでしょう。
　私がこのような想像に至ったのは、この絵の背景の配色が巧みだからと思います。女性の背景に暗い色を使うことで、女性の気持ちがまだ浮上していないことを連想できます。また、髑髏の背景のほうが明るいことで、亡き恋人の残したものが彼女の今後を明るく照らす可能性を連想できます。
　女性が髑髏に口付けるというちょっと薄気味悪い絵ですが、こうして見つめてみますと、ちゃんとタロットの「Death」の意味とデッキのアレンジに基づいたものになっているのが解ります。興味深い１枚です。
