New buds of Japanese umbrella pine

There is a Japanese umbrella pine tree in my mother's garden.
I think it was a dozen years ago, my mother bought and planted a small sapling of about 10 cm looking like a branch, and then now, it grew up and finally exceeded 50 cm.
The round objects in the center of this photo are new buds of Japanese umbrella pine, the base of them will grow some centimeters and become new branches, and each small small protrusion like a chrysanthemum petal will grow up as a new leaf at the tip of a new branch.
The new branches are initially green, thin and youthful, eventually they become brownish as they get thicker, at the same time the color of their leaves get darker, then they sprout new buds at their tips, and the tree will grow up some centimeters again.
It's a tree that grows very slowly, but grows up steadily without getting sick even if the daylight hours are short or the root soil is covered with other grass, and so I feel very trustworthy in it.
I can't help but feel it has something to emulate.

コウヤマキの新芽

母の庭には、小さなコウヤマキの木があります。
たしか十数年前10センチほどの枝のような小さな苗木を母が買ってきて植えたもので、現在やっと50センチを超えました。
この写真の中央に写る丸いものはコウヤマキの芽で、根元が数センチ伸びて新しい枝になり、菊の花弁のような小さな突起の１つ１つがその先端で新しい葉として伸びます。
新しい枝は最初は緑色で細く若々しいのですが、やがて太くなるにつれて茶色くなり、葉の色も濃くなると先端に新芽をつけ、また数センチ伸びるのです。
成長がとてもゆっくりな木ですが、日照時間が短くても他の草に根元を覆われていても、病気もしないで着実に育っていくさまは、とても頼もしいです。
見習うべきものがあると感じずにはいられない木です。
