Thatched-roof old folk house and Japanese style small garden

This is a photo I took the summer state of a thatched-roof small old folk house and its garden at a corner of Sasaragi Tanada (terraced paddy fields).
The garden was on the south side of the old folk house, there were trees with neatly trimmed branches to be soften the sun and a small pond with being kept pouring water to make us feel cool.
Although it was different from Kare-sansui (the dry landscape garden) of temples, etc., it was a general Japanese style garden with a small artificial hill planted with grass and trees to enjoy the nature of the four seasons.
The undergrowth was also neatly arranged and the garden made me feel refreshing, so I felt like I also wanted to take a care of my parents' house's garden like this.

茅葺の古民家と和風の小さな庭

佐々良木棚田の片隅に建つ茅葺の小さな古民家とその庭の夏の様子を撮りました。
庭は建物の南側にあり、きちんと枝も切り揃えられた木々で日差しを和らげたり、小さな池には水を引き入れて涼を取れるようにしてありました。
寺院などの枯山水ではありませんが、築山に四季折々の自然を楽しめる草木を植えた、一般的な和風の庭です。
下草もきちんと整えられていて清々しく、私も実家の庭をこんなふうに手入れしたいと感じ入りました。
