Delicate flowers of Chionanthus retusus

Hitotsubatago (Chionanthus retusus) is a tree called also "Nanja-monja tree".
In Japan, it grows wildly only in Tsushima and Gifu Prefecture Tounou region, blooms when the season for rice planting is coming soon.
Because its flowers bloom on its leaves, while in blooming, it looks like snow covered on a tree in flesh green.
Having taken a photo of those flowers in about full bloom is this.
It is very beautiful that small and delicate white flowers are blooming all at once, is widly known now and Hitotsubatago is also planted at parks or streets in urban areas such as Tokyo and Nagoya.

繊細なヒトツバタゴの花

ヒトツバタゴは、「なんじゃもんじゃの木」という別名もある、木です。
日本では対馬と岐阜県東濃地方にのみ自生しており、田植えの季節が近づくと花が咲きます。
花は葉の上に咲くため、開花に伴って新緑の木に雪が積もったような姿になります。
その花をほぼ満開の時に撮ったのが、この写真です。
小さくて繊細な白い花が一斉に咲くさまはとても美しく、現在では広く知られるようになり、東京や名古屋など都市部の公園や街路にも植えられています。
