Magnolia stellata flowers part 1

This flowers are Shide-kobushi (Magnolia stellata), and the Japanese endemic species of magnolia that grows naturally in Aichi, Gifu, and Mie Prefectures.
It has the characteristics that petals are long and narrow and hangs down immediately after flowering ("Shide" of Shide-kobushi is also written in Kanji as "paper-hanging-down").
Because it begins to flower in the early spring, some people in the Tono region, Gifu Prefecture also say it as "the flower blooming before other (spring) flowers".
It was, for me, a longing flower that I had wanted to shoot for years but missed the timing to shoot (I'll write about this on another post).

シデコブシの花 その１

この花はシデコブシといって、モクレンの仲間の中でも愛知県、岐阜県、三重県に自生する日本の固有種です。
花弁が細長く、開花直後から垂れ下がるのが特徴です（シデコブシのシデは「紙垂」とも書きます）。
早春から咲き始めるため、岐阜県東濃地方では「他の（春の）花に先んじて咲く」と言う人もいます。
私にとっては、何年も撮りたいと思っていたのに撮るタイミングを逃していた、憧れの花でした（この話は、いずれまた）。
