Large bud of the southern magnolia

While shooting hydrangea absorbedly in Hana Festa Kinen Koen (Flower Festival Commemorative Park), I hit my head against something.
I thought I hit against a branch because I was under a roadside tree beside the promenade, but it felt softer than the branches.
I wondered what it was and looked up, it was a white bud as large as a head of the young child.
I didn't know its name, but I was surprised at how large it was, and couldn't help to shoot it.
So then, the photo I took is this.
After going home, I learned it is Taisanboku (Southern magnolia), which is a member of Magnolia characterized by its flower size.

泰山木の大きな蕾

花フェスタ記念公園でアジサイを夢中で撮影していたら、何かに頭をぶつけました。
ちょうど遊歩道の街路樹下にいたので枝かと思いましたが、もっと柔らかい感触でした。
何だろうと思って見上げたら、幼い子供の頭ほどもある大きな白い蕾でした。
何という花か知りませんでしたが、あまりの大きさに驚き、思わず撮らずにはいられませんでした。
そうして撮った写真が、これです。
泰山木という、花の大きさが特徴的なモクレンの仲間であることは、帰宅してから知りました。
