Southern magnolia's bud in just starting to bloom

This is a photo of a bud of the southern magnolia I happened to find while shooting the hydrangea in Hana Festa Kinen Koen (Flower Festival Commemorative Park).
It is a type of magnolia characterized by large flowers, I hear.
At the shooting time, the bud was in just starting to bloom, but the bulge of white petals with a smooth texture made me feel glossy somehow.

咲きかけの泰山木の蕾

花フェスタ記念公園へアジサイを撮影しに行き、たまたま見つけた泰山木の蕾です。
花の大きさが特徴のモクレンの仲間だそうです。
この状態は蕾が開きかけの状態でしたが、滑らかな質感の白い花弁の膨らみは、どこか艶っぽく見えました。
