Nostalgic small house with the thatched roof and small Japanese garden

This is a photo of a small house with the thatched roof I took at a corner of Sasaragi Tanada (terraced paddy fields) in Ena City, Gifu Prefecture.
No one lives here, but people in this district manage cherishly and use for events of the district and so on.
Its garden is also cherished, various trees have been planted in group on a small artificial hill surrounded by rocks.
Those trees, which were chosen to be familiar to the people living in mountainous area and to make feel the season, have been properly pruned to keep a good balance with the house and to look better.
Whenever I visit, I can feel people in the district have their feeling of cherishing that place, good senses and prides of keeping Japanese tradition.

ノスタルジックな家と庭

岐阜県恵那市の佐々良木棚田の一角にある、茅葺の小さな家を撮影しました。
誰も住んでおらず、地域の方々が大切に管理し、地域イベントなどに使用されています。
大切にされているのはお庭も同じで、建物の南側の岩で囲った築山にさまざまな木々が寄せられていています。
その木々は山間部に暮らす者には馴染み深い、季節を感じられるものが選ばれていますし、小さな家とのバランスを保ちつつ見栄えも良くなるよう、きちんと剪定されてもいます。
いつ訪れても、この地域の人々の、この場所を大切に思う気持ち、センスの良さと誇りが感じられます。
