Pineapple lily, the flower that surprised me

It was when I stepped into a place like a narrow passage behind my parents' house while weeding in my mother's garden as usual.
"What's this tropical flower!?"
I was very surprised to see a flower reminiscent of a pineapple blooming in front of me.
Because I had not seen such a flower at that place.
"Oh, it's rare, Omoto (pineapple lily) is blooming. Maybe it's because you have weeded around it."
It seemed that its flower is rarely seen also for my mother, she was pleased with both its flowering and my weeding.

私を驚かせた花、ホシオモト

いつものように母の庭の草取りをしていて、実家の裏側の細い通路のような場所に踏み込んだ時でした。
「なんだ、このトロピカルな花は！？」
目の前に、パイナップルを連想する花が咲いていて、とても驚きました。
なぜなら、その場所でこんな花を見たことがなかったからです。
「あら、珍しい、オモトが咲いたのね。あんたが草取りしてくれるおかげかしら」
母にとっても見かけることが少ない花らしく、私の草取りのことまで喜んでくれました。
